Scollie the Scallop Dragon by lizzarddesigns Scollie the Scallop Dragon by lizzarddesigns
I was at the craft store last week looking for marbles when I came across a bag of seashells. My son's got super excited (8 & 6) and my oldest HAD to have the orange one! So I made him a deal, he has been bugging me to make him a dragon that I wouldn't sell because every time one sells, he gets sad and says "That's My Favorite one Mommy!"... So the deal was that he could have the Orange shell only if I got to make him a dragon that went along with it. I also promised him that I wouldn't sell it.

So here he is, named by my son because it is "his" dragon. Scollie (from the word Scallop)

This was the first time I used more than just clay in my piece and I am absolutely in love with the way he (and his brother Toby the turquoise Dragon - made for my 6 year old) came out.

The Orange shell is a real Orange Whole Noble Pectin Scallop SeaShell. All the rest is made from Polymer clay and I added some swarovski crystals on the front claws and wings. In the sand to make it glitter a tad more are these tiny little metal balls that are generally used for scrapbooking or stamping. Lastly, I added some glitter to the SeaStar and the tall coral things.

Although Scollie and Toby are not for sale, I will be doing more of these because I had so much fun making them. Or, If you want one in a certain color scheme or whatever I am happy to do a commission.

Size: about 2 1/2" tall
Made from: Polymer Clay | Metal Beads | glitter | SeaShell | loads of love!
Name: Scollie the Scallop Dragon
Adopted by: my 8 year old son
Date Hatched: July 7th 2013

The background/base is really nice too - I love the little sea plants.

thx so much, I love these guys! I have to do more! I have been thinking about doing the same type (with the scene and stuff) for my elemental dragons etc! it will be a nice touch instead of just the plain dragon by himself.
